Turok 2 is "Tu-good"

Acclaim Ships Over 1.4 Million Units of Turok 2: Seeds of Evil; Strong Worldwide Holiday Sales Exceed Retail Expectations

Acclaim Entertainment, a leading worldwide interactive entertainment company, today announced that Turok 2: Seeds of Evil has exceeded original sales expectations and now ranks as one of the top-selling N64 games this holiday season. Major retailers have already placed re-orders for Turok 2, above the original shipment of 1.4 million units worldwide. Turok 2 for Game Boy Color is also enjoying stronger than anticipated sales.

"Turok 2: Seeds of Evil is the largest Nintendo 64 launch in the history of Acclaim. Despite an aggressive forecast, shipments still did not meet the incredible demand for the product," said Paul Eibeler, executive vice president and general manager of Acclaim Entertainment. "We are eagerly anticipating the release of Turok 2 for the PC, which is expected to ship on January 26th. With the tremendous popularity of the brand, and the exceptional quality of the product, we have very high expectations for the success of Turok 2: Seeds of Evil in the PC market."

"Turok 2 is selling exceptionally well right now," said Jim Mackenzie, divisional merchandising manager for KayBee Toys. "It was one of our best titles during the holiday season and we expect demand to continue well into 1999."

In addition to its popularity in the US, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil is one of this season's most sought-after games in Europe.

"Turok 2 was one of the most anticipated and talked about games of 1998, and it has performed outstandingly on its release in the UK," said Alex Croft, console buyer for Dixons Store Group Plc. "It is perceived by consumers and the industry alike as a must-have benchmark product for the Nintendo 64."

Turok 2 was launched worldwide with a $9 million market effort that includes a major national TV campaign, top market radio, extensive print and online advertising, in-store merchandising including standees, posters, counter cards, and in-store videos. Acclaim's Web site, www.acclaim.net, and its companion site, www.turok.com, feature a level-by-level walk-through of the game, tips and hints, screen shots, game footage, codes and an online comic book.

"Our commitment to outstanding retail support, far-reaching marketing initiatives, and quality product has resulted in Turok 2 far exceeding our initial expectations," said Rod Cousens, president of Acclaim International. "The sell-through to date across Europe has been excellent with many retailers reporting a total sell-out situation. This outstanding success is a testament to Acclaim's ability to deliver high-quality, high-profile brands."

Developed by Iguana Entertainment, an Acclaim studio, Turok 2 is one of the first N64 products to feature a 32 meg cartridge. Turok 2 is also four times larger than the original, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. Turok 2 features six enormous levels, incredibly realistic environments, soft-skin technology, a cadre of the most vile enemies ever assembled, an arsenal of over 20 deadly weapons, and "deathmatch" mode in which four players can compete in up to 14 multiplayer maps. Turok 2 also supports the new Nintendo 64 memory expansion pack allowing the game to be played in high resolution.

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil is supported by the Acclaim Official Turok 2 Strategy Guide and an action figure and electronics line by Playmates Toys.
