This game starts off with the main character Cloud, who finds and travels with the rebel group AVALANCHE. He and a few others must blow up a Mako reactor that is controlled by the Shinra Co. Mako is what makes up the planet and as Shinra sucks it up they are killing the planet. AVALANCHE takes it upon themselves to stop them. This is just the beginning and the plot soon grows bigger and bigger. A little warning though, this game has a confusing plot...

| Graphics: 10 | Graphics: These graphics are just stunning. They blow the mind. Especially the FMV. These are some of the best on the PSX. |
| Music/Sound: 9 | Music/Sound: This is some of Uematsu's finest work. I happen to think that only FFVI had better music. Overall the music soundtrack was very good. |
| Play Control: 8.5 | Play Control: With a huge hand floating over your head and little arrows showing where everything is, it's almost impossible to get lost in this game. Only docked because it's a little hard to go into some entrances. |
| Originality: 7.5 | Originality: Sadly, this Final Fantasy didn't have a very original main plot. Hero needs to save the planet from something trying to destroy it. Nothing new at all. Although the subplots are a whole different story. |
| Challenge: 8 | Challenge: This game was a very easy RPG, perhaps the easiest ever made. The only challenging part were the two added WEAPONs, but they had no effect on the story so I don't count them. |
| Replay Value: 9 | Replay Value: I can almost guarantee that you won't find KotR on your first try without a guide or your friends. You also won't find some of the better items or be a very good chocobo breeder at first. |
