Final Fantasy V came out for the Super Famicom system over in Japan, and now it's being included with Final Fantasy Anthologies for the Playstation. At the time at it's release (way back in '92-'93) it sold even better than Dragon Warrior V, another Super Famicom game, which is also part of a successful series.Final Fantasy V is in NO way related to any other Square game.
Well, enough about the background of it...let's talk about the game!
Final Fantasy V's main cast of characters:
Butz:
Butz is a young adventurer whose father's last request was for him to go on an adventure. He travels with his chocobo [Chok-Oh-Boo] Boko (Or Boco..) and obtains the crystals of wind, therefore getting "Wind Quest". Butz is 20 years old and becomes the only male in the team in the latter half of the story. He supposedly likes Lenna, although Butz also finds Faris attractive during the game. He is the first person whom you control in the game and is the main character.
Meet Boko.
Lenna:
Lenna is the young princess of Tycoon. She is attacked by Goblins where the meteor landed near Tycoon and is saved by Butz. She is 19 years old and has a fondness for animals. She shows proof of that in the game, but you'll find that out. She is seeking to go to the Wind Shrine, where her father King Tycoon has went to see what's wrong with the wind crystal. Her mother died of a disease which only the tongue of a Hiryuu ("Hi" meaning Flying, and "Ryuu" meaning Dragon, literally "Flying Dragon") could cure.
This is a Hiryuu.
Faris:
Faris is the leader of the pirates, whose base is located in a cave near Tycoon. She has a pet dragon Syldra who pulls her boat through the seas without the aid of the wind. Faris is 20 years old.
Galuf:
Galuf is the oldest member of the team, at 60 years. He likes being nosy and getting into other people's business. He lands on earth in a meteor and tries to prevent Exdeath from being resurrected. Although old (as a fighter), Galuf has a heart of gold and will do anything for his grand-daughter, Kururu.
Kururu: (Cara)
Kururu is undoubtably the youngest member of the team, at 14 years old. She has many traits that her grandpa has (of course). Her jobs look different from everybody else's, mainly because she's still a kid. She joins the team to help them defeat Exdeath. I suspect that maybe she has a crush on Mid in the game. Who knows?

Originality:10 | Originality: Wow. The ability to change classes anytime you want..as long as you have the required crystal. Tired of being a Knight? Go ahead and become a Chemist! Or form your own character! A Black Wizard that knows Lv. 6 White Spells! Or try a Caller that can jump! This is cool! |
Challenge: 9 | Challenge: This is a hard game. That's probably why American shores get the toned down versions of games...our FF2 was Japan's FF4 Easytype. This game will be included with FF6 on Final Fantasy Anthologies. |
Replay Value: 7.5 | Replay Value: You might want to replay the game again, but it takes so long to master the classes! Maybe because there're so many to choose from... |
