LUFIA 2 WALKTHROUGH v.1.0
by ErgGibbon@aol.com

The Beginning
---------------------

You start in Elcid. Explore the town and talk to people, then try to
leave and the old guy will tell you to meet him at the dungeon to the south.
Head there and enter.
You have to be a total moron not to be able to do this level. Just
follow the old guy's instructions and learn Reset. One thing the game
doesn't mention is that if an enemy runs into you from behind, the enemy gets
free hits. If an enemy is chasing you, turn around and fight them. Then
head back to town and talk to Tia. Head outside and a messenger will show up
and tell you that monsters have appeared in the cave to Sundletan.
Leave town and fight Red Jellies to get up to level 5 (you will
already have gained some levels in the Secret Skills Cave). Then buy a
Rapier and Small Shield in town, and the Strong spell if you have the money.
Then go to the Cave to Sundletan.
Pass through the first room and take the upper-right door. Go
through the door on the right for a chest, then head out of that small room.
Pick up one of the pots and put it on the lower-left square, past the first
switch. Then carry the second pot past the switch and use the R button to
turn around and put it on the switch. Put the other pot on the switch to the
left to open the door. Go through and get the Life Potion. Go back to the
main room with the river.
Cut the bush to reveal a switch and step on it. Cut the bushes and
walk through the third row to get to the chest with an Antidote. Head into
the next room on the right and cut the bushes on the left to reveal a switch.
Put a pot on it and go through the door. Push two blocks out of the way on
any side, then push away the block blocking the staircase. Go down and get
the Power Potion, then whack the switch with your sword to turn it blue.
Jump down at one of the arrows and cross the new bridge to the stairs, but
don't go down. Walk into the narrow area south of the stairs and head left
to another set of stairs. Go down those for a Magic Jar and Hide Armor, then
go back trhough the wall to the original set of stairs and descend. Heal up
at the symbols and continue to the boss.
Just hit the Lizard Man with weapons. If you get low, use an item
or, preferably, the Strong spell. You get to go first, so you shouldn't have
any problems. When you beat him, you'll get the Door Key. You will then
meet Iris. Head up the stairs and go back to the river room (just ignore the
room to the right. It contains a chest you can't get to yet). Go through
the room in the upper-left and use the Door Key to open the door. Leave the
cave.
Head north-east to Sundletan and an earthquake will occur. Explore
the town and buy the best equipment you can afford. Don't worry about buying
spells, at this point, all you really need is Strong and perhaps Poison.
You'll get your first items with IP powers here. Save your IP for tough
fights. Outside, get up to level 8 or 9 if you're not already there, and
then enter the Lake Cave on the small island to the north.
Shoot the switch with an arrow to raise the water, then pick up the
bridge segments and put them in the water. Go straight up and kill the three
enemies. A segment of the wall will open. Shoot the enemies with arrows in
the order you killed them in and the door to the right will open. To the
south is HP and MP restoration, if you need it. Go down the stairs to the
right and get the Insect Crush. It's weaker than the Dagger, but use it even
if you have the Dagger. It's strong against insects and has the useful Bomb
Attack IP.
Return to the room with the blue carpet and take the left door. Go
down the steps. There is a save spot in the left of the two doors in the
small lowered area. Use the southern door to get to a Power Potion, then
take the upper-right door to a room with two pillars. Move the pillars away
to reveal two switches. Put the pillars on the top switches to open the
right door. Go through and head to the upper-right. Walk left through the
wall for a Miracle. If you want, go through the door and fight through the
long row of enemies. Do this only if you're healthy. Use the Insect Crush's
Bomb Attack if you need it. Your reward is the useful Speedy Ring. Go back
to the pillar room and put the pillars on the left switches to open the
bottom door. Go through and push the lower-right block to reveal a
staircase. You have to reverse the arrow of blocks. Move the bottom block
to the top and put in the middle. Push the end blocks on what's now the
middle row down. Go through the door for the Lake Key.
This would be a good time to head back to Sundletan to heal and save.
In the blue carpet room, go left and stand on the lower-left crack. You will
land on a switch. Use the left door to save your game if you want, then go
through the door the switch opened. Use three bridge segments to make a path
to the island, then carry the fourth across. Throw the bridge segment into
the water directly to the right of the switch, then throw the switch. Go
down the ladder, pick up the bridge, and use it to cross. Unlock the door
and head up. The Catfish will appear and attack.
The Big Catfish is the first real boss (the Lizard Man is just a
regular enemy from later in the game). If you have any attack spells (highly
unlikely), use them. Otherwise, just hit. Don't bother with the Bomb Attack
as it is just a regular attack on all enemies. His Mega Quake does big
damage, so be sure to stay healed up. When you beat him (it may take several
tries), head back to Sundletan.
In Sundletan, you'll find about the coronation in Alunze Kingdom. A
guy near the entrance will tell you that somebody went to the Lake Cave to
look for you. Go back to the room with the three enemies arrow room. You
will encounter a Goblin and a Skeleton, followed by another Goblin. They're
not that difficult. Then Tia will join your party.
Back in Sundletan, buy Tia a Whip and get her up a level or two.
Head to the north-west and pass through the shrine. Then go south around the
mountains and enter the lone tree. Inside, you'll get your first Capsule
Monster, Jelze the Foomy. From now on, instead of selling your old
equipment, feed it to a capsule monster. You won't get as much money, but
it's the best way to get your capsule monsters up. Then head north to Alunze
and enter the town.

Alunze Kingdom
---------------------

In Alunze, buy new equipment, but keep Tia's Frock because of its IP
ability. There's no Magic Store here. Upstairs in the Inn, you'll find a
small Casino (it has one slot machine). Don't bother with it, the stuff you
can get is not worth the absurd amount of time and/or money you have to spend
to get it.
Enter Alunze Castle and head up to the throne room. Berty and Bart
will appear and steal the crown. Head down to the basement using the door to
the right of the throne room and enter. Head south and put the pot on the
switch. Enter and put one of the blocks on the nearby switch. Push the
other one down to the bottom switch. Enter and get Bombs.
Go back to the room with the pillars and set a bomb in front of the
cracked wall to blow it open. Put the pot on the switch in the lower-left
to make a bridge across the water. Head to the lower-right for a Headband
(even if you have one, it's food for Jelze) and then cross the bridge and go
down the stairs. Head right for a save spot and healing, then go back to the
room with the stairs. Bomb open the door and go open. Put the pot on the
upper-left switch to get an Escape, then go through the lower-right door.
Push the bomb out of the way and go through the door.
The next room has a difficult puzzle. Move the orange block at the
bottom to the left of the two horizontal orange blocks to make all three
disappear. Push the top red blocks out of the way and then push the
upper-right orange one where it was. Now all the orange ones are gone. Move
the lower-left red block out of the way and line up the blue blocks so that
are two in a row, followed by a space and then two more. Push the last blue
block into the middle to clear them all, then do the same for the red ones.
The puzzle will look sort of like this after each step:

R O R O RR RR
OROBB OROBB BB
OOBRR BRR BRR RR
RB B RB B RB B
O R
Start Step 1 Step 2 Step 3

After solving the puzzle, take the right door for a Coat, then go
south. Push the left block one square down and then the right one to the
right. Push the left block to the left and go down the steps. Head left and
push the bottom block onto the left switch. Put the pot on the lower-right
switch and step onto the transporter. Stay along the bottom wall and walk
right. Walk up around the barrier and shoot the Mad Horse with an arrow to
stun it. Kill it and open the chest for a Light Knife. Take the transporter
back and put the pot on the upper-left switch, then teleport. Put a bomb
next to the crate and walk out of the ring of spikes. The bomb will blow up
the crate and allow you to get the Dragon Egg. Head south and push the block
onto the switch, then head right and teleport to the upper-right room. From
the teleporter, go ULLUULLUURRUUR to the chest, with Secret Fruit. Hang on
to it. Walk around the outside of the maze and break through the cracked
wall for a Miracle. Go back and teleport to the lower-left room. Kill all
the Cobalts (I think they mean Kobolds) to open the door and head left to the
stairs.
Berty and Bart will show up, but get swept away by the water. Go
south and get the crown. Use an Escape to leave or just hike out. Take the
crown to the King and he will ask what you want. Say nothing for 3000 gold
pieces. Heal and save at the town, then head to the small shrine to the
northwest, and you will learn that Abel has taken the key. Go the cave to
the west of the shrine.
In the cave, use the bridge segments to repair the bridge. Jump down
at the arrows and flick the switch to get to a Hi-Potion. Go through the
door on the right and put the pots on the switches. One is hidden behind the
pillar on the right. Follow the passage to a room with a cracked floor.
Drop through and move the lower block to the right. Push the top block up
one square to pass the rocks, then push it back down onto the switch. Get
the Horse Rock and push the right block down, then push the left block all
the way to the left. Go through the first door and put the pot on the square
that makes a staircase appear when you stand on it. Continue left and walk
straight down between the two doors in the next room to a room with the Light
Armor in a chest. Continue to left to a large room with lots of enemies.
The stairs will take you back to the entrance, if you need to leave.
Go south and follow the passage to HP and MP restoration. Cut the vines on
the wall to reveal a door leading to a Brave and a Miracle. Continue right
and go down the stairs. If they're not there, you didn't put the pot on the
space that made them appear. Go the upper-right. The plants will grow back
after you cut them, so put a bomb next to one and then get behind the block.
When the bomb blows up, push the block up a square and repeat. Go left and
stand on the bridge of land between the two lower areas. Shoot the switch
with an arrow and you'll drop down. Follow the path to the right for the Jet
Helm. Head back to the stairs and push the two pillars into the water to a
make a bridge. Go down and get the three chests. The spikes will come up,
but just kill all the enemies to lower them. Then go down the stairs in the
upper-left. Come back to reset the pillars and push the two of them into the
water at the far right. Walk under the wall to the chest, which has the
Witch Ring. Go back down the stairs.
Go through the door on the right and follow the path to a pool. Hit
the switch to drain it. Go back to the main room and go down the steps.
Walk under the bridge and through the wall to a Miracle, then go up and drain
the pool. Go back to the main room and go up. Heal and save your game.
Bomb through the wall and fight the Regal Goblin.
The Regal Goblin will summon Goblins and Goblin Mages. When he does,
have Tia cast a spell against all the enemies. Maxim should just attack the
Regal Goblin every turn. You'll then get the Shrine Key. Use an Escape to
leave or walk out. If you're hurt, go back to Alunze to heal. Otherwise,
just continue through the small shrine to Tanbel.
In Tanbel, you'll meet Guy and Hilda. Heal at the inn, then go talk
to Guy in the square. Camu will show up and you'll fight two Followers.
Switch Tia and Guy, then just pound on them with regular attacks. Camu will
then capture Hilda and escape to the tower to the southeast. Guy will join
your party. Use Change to put Guy in the lead and Maxim second, then buy
some better equipment and spells for Tia (only buy healing spells for Maxim.
He'll never use attack spells).
Head east from Tanbel to the Southeast Tower and take the left door.
Step on the black symbol to make four switches appear. Put the blocks on the
bottom switches, then carry the pot across the switch, turn with the R
button, and set it down. Follow the path and kill the stationary Goblin to
reveal a switch that opens the door. Continue outside and go in the next
door. Put the pillar on the black switch to open both walls. Ascend to the
fourth floor.
Take the south door. Approach the switch from the bottom of the blue
carpet so the blocks won't appear. Go outside and throw the switch. Go back
to the entrance room of the fourth floor and go left. Move the pillar onto
the colored tile and then transfer the pots to the symbols. Put a bomb on
the skeleton to the south of the stairs to make a switch appear. Go outside,
descend, and enter the door. Hit the bottom pillar with your sword, the
middle one with an arrow, and the top one with a bomb. Go inside and get the
Sky Key.
Go back to the room with the skeleton and go up the steps. Heal and
save, then go back outside and cross the lowered platform (you should have
hit the switch earlier). Put the block on the left switch and the pillar on
the top one. Go through the door and hit the switch. Put the pillar on the
top switch and the block below it. Go through the door that appears and get
the Jute Helmet. Go back outside and in the first door to heal, then climb
the ladder and go through the door to meet Camu.
Use the Horse Rock's Frenzy IP and any other strong IP powers you
have. Tia should cast Flash and heal. Maxim and Guy should attack Camu.
Ignore the Slaves he summons (Jelze may kill them anyway). When he uses his
Buster Attack, you may need to have Maxim heal. When you beat him, Iris
shows up and warps you back to Tanbel.
Guy will join your party (although he never left). Head back to the
Southeast Tower and go all the way back up to Camu's room. Open the chests
for the Camu Armor, Fire Dagger, and Pearl Brace. Then descend to the
entrance and go in the middle door. Cross through the chamber and out the
other side.

Selan
---------------------

Continue on to Clamento. Talk to everyone, then buy new equipment
and get the Escape spell for Tia. You might also want to get the Release
spell. Don't buy the glass stuff. It's too expensive for its small effect.
Get a bunch of Mystery Pins; you'll need them. Then head north to the Ruby
Cave.
Go through the first room and bomb open the door. Follow the
passages to four switches. Throw the upper-right, upper-left, lower-right,
and lower-left switches in that order to drain the lava. Bomb through the
door and step on the transporter. Talk to the dog. He's Blaze, the Fire
Capsule Monster, and he joins your party. Blaze is one of the better capsule
guys.
Go back to the room with three doors and cut the bushes to reveal a
switch. Go through the door and cut the bushes for another switch.
Downstairs, repair the bridge and head up. Take the right staircase. First,
use the ice blocks in the lower-left to get to a chest with Flame Fruit.
Save your fruit so you can get your capsules to level M (see the section on
Capsule Monsters for more info). Then, head to the bottom of the main ledge
and walk to the far right of the bottom. Face down and throw an ice block
in. Throw another ice block in at the lower-right corner of the solidified
lava and keep doing this until you get to two small ledges. Put one of the
ice blocks in at the lower-left corner of the smaller ledge, facing left.
Then put the second ice block in at the lower-left corner of the
just-solidified lava, facing down. Get the chests for a Fury Helm and Aqua
Whip. Shoot the switch with an arrow to make a bridge. Go back upstairs and
take the left stairs. Head downstairs and cut away the vines to reveal a
door. Get the Ruby Key.
Enter the ice-block room from the right staircase and use the blocks
to make a bridge to the stairs on the right. There's a save spot behind the
vines. Take the door on the left and fight the Tarantula, one of the
toughest bosses in the game.
Use your IP powers at the start. Guy and Maxim should attack and Tia
should use Spark or heal. Ignore the guys he summons. You need to kill him
before he starts healing. Don't worry about poisoning; the damage is pretty
insignificant. If he paralyzes you, use Mystery Pins. This is a difficult
battle and it may take you several tries. After the fight, you'll meet Jaffy
and learn the truth about the Ruby Apple.
Return to Clamento and sell the Ruby Apple to Rochy. You will
automatically use the money to pay off Jaffy's rent (and get a free Ear
Jewel). Head up the small shrine northwest of town and continue on to
Parcelyte.
You'll meet Selan when you enter, then buy new equipment. Don't get
the Ironmail for Guy; the Camu Armor's attack bonus is worth the lower
defense. Head to the castle and talk to the King. He will ask you to find
the Treasure Sword, and Selan will join the party. Go back to town and buy
better equipment for Selan. Get her up a few levels outside. You may
encounter Red Cores, which are this game's equivalent of Metal Babbles or
Rubble. They provide great experience, but almost always run away before you
can attack. If you do get a turn, use spells, which do a lot more damage
than weapons.
Head north from Parcelyte to the Treasure Sword Shrine. Take the
left door when you enter. Walk through the little gap in the next room and
pick up the pot. Put it on the switch, then bomb through the wall. Fall
through the hole. Get the Round Shield, push the blocks out of the way, and
head up the stairs.
Now take the right door from the entrance room and go down the steps.
Stand on the first platform you see to get to a chest with the Undead Ring.
Walk across to the platform pointing up. Ride the platform right, back to
the stairs. Head down and take the first platform up to a chest with the
powerful Cold Rapier. Take the vertical platform back down and the
horizontal platform back to the left. Ride the vertical platform down and
then take the other vertical platform to the right up. Head back left and
ride the vertical platform on the left up, then get onto the horizontal one
to ride to two chests, with the Anger Brace and Sword Key. Ride the
horizontal one back, the next one down, and the horizontal one to the right.
Loop back and ride the vertical one and circle around on the platforms to the
door on the left. Head upstairs and return to the entrance room.
Use the Sword Key and go through the locked door. Follow the passage
to some switches. Flip the top switch twice, the bottom switch, the top
switch, then the bottom. Cross and get the Bat Rock. Go back and flip the
bottom and top switches. Cross and hit the bottom, top, and bottom switches.
Go through the door. Head up the stairs and put a bomb by the left crate,
then the right one. Cross the bridge and the bombs will blow up to move the
bridge. Follow the path to the horizontal room.
These are some of the tougher puzzles in the game. Move the far left
block to the far right. In the next room, move the lower-right red block
into the right of the two spaces in the horizontal row. Then move the bottom
yellow block into the space in the row. It will look something like this
after each step:

Y Y Y
R R Y
YR YRY YR RRRY YYYYYYY
YR Y
Start Step 1 Step 2

In the next room, move the lower-left yellow block to the bottom of
the far right column. Move the right of the two red blocks on the middle row
to the middle of the top row. The move the second yellow block from the top
in the column to the left of the top row. It looks like this:

R Y R Y RRY YYYY
RRR RRY R Y Y
YRR RY RY YY
Y Y Y
Start Step 1 Step 2 Step 3

Continue through the door and save your game. Head up to the passage
and two clowns will appear. Talk to the blue clown and fight him. Save your
IP and use regular attacks and Droplet and Gale spells. After you beat him,
he reappears and you're kicked back outside the room. Go back, heal, save,
and talk to the red clown. Use Flash, Spark, and regular attacks on Daniele,
and save your IP again. After both fights, you will split up into two groups
to fight the bosses. Fight them in the same way, but now use your IP
(Glacial Blast works very well on Pierre). Keep your HP up, because they can
cast a spell before you get to heal. These are tough battles with only two
characters.
After both battles, get the Treasure Sword and return to Parcelyte.
A messenger will tell you that someone has destroyed Gordovan. Head down to
the basement and get the Holy Wings. Then head west to the shrine. Teleport
through there to Gordovan. There's no equipment here, but there is an inn.
Head west to the West Tower and go left. When the enemy steps on the
switch, shoot it with an arrow and go through the door. Go upstairs and hit
the red switch. Push the middle of the lower set of blocks down two squares,
then push the one to your right to the right two squares. Push the
lower-left blocks of the top set left two squares. Push the block above that
one down one two squares. Stand on the bottom white panel to move the
switch, then walk up to the top wall and shoot it with an arrow. Cross and
flip the switch. Go outside and in the other door. Go upstairs and head
south for healing.
On the third floor, put the pot on the right switch and walk across
the black path to the door. Go upstairs and head south to get your old
friend from Zelda, Mr. Hookshot. Back in the main room, push the pillar to
the right and swing up to the pillar above with the Hook. Cross the pit and
go up the stairs. Go left and bomb the crate to flip the spikes. Save, go
outside, and hit the switch. Go right in the spike room to the elevator.
Take the elevator to the second floor and go south for a Speed
Potion, and get a Miracle on level 4. On the first floor, go up and bomb
through the wall for the Eagle Rock. Cross the gap with the hook and go
upstairs for the Muscle Ring. Take the elevator to level 3 and head left.
Push the closer pillar two squares left, then swing to it from the left side
of the pit. Push the bottom pillar down a square, then move the pillar on
the right all the way to the right. Swing to the bottom pillar and push it
up onto the switch. Go outside and upstairs.
Step on the switch and then whack the switches in order (I think it
changes each game). Get the Wind Key and head back to the elevator. Go up
the level 5 and take the right door. Unlock the door and go up to the top.
You'll meet Gades, who can't be beaten (right now). Just whack him and let
him kill you. Iris will show up and save you. Go into the room and get the
Scimitar and Block Shield, then return to Parcelyte.

Gades
---------------------

Guy will leave your party to return to Tanbel. He'll be back later.
Go back into the tower and take the east door to pass through to the other
side. Head north to Merix. Buy new items and spells, but don't get any
spells for Tia except Fireball, as she won't be in your party too much
longer.
Before you continue, you can go back to the Cave to Sundletan and
Alunze Kingdom basement for chests now accessible with the Hook. They
contain, respectively, a Dragon Egg and Water Jewel. At Merix, head north to
the Cave Bridge.
This is a pretty simple and easy dungeon. Go down the steps and
through the door. Get the Regain, then bomb open the door and flip the
switch. Cross the river via Hook and take the door on the right for
Hi-Magic. Go through the left door and fall down the holes. Whack the black
ball with your sword to kill all the enemies. Then just go up the stairs to
the bridge. That's it. First, head back to Merix and talk to Ugene for a
Dragon Egg. Then continue on through the bridge to the Bound Kingdom.
You'll meet Idura and Dekar. Head up to the throne room and Prince
Alex and Dekar will leave for the North Labyrinth. Buy new equipment. If
you don't have enough money for everything you can use, fight outside the
castle, because you will need it in the North Labyrinth. It's a good idea to
get up a few levels anyway.
In the North Labyrinth, take the right door. Cut through the bushes
and walk through the wall on the left for the Thunder Ring. Head downstairs
and hit the switch in the upper-left (it's under a bush). Swing across and
hit the switch with the Hook from the little part of the ledge that sticks
out on the right (so you're to the right of the spikes). Go back up to the
entrance room and take the middle door. Follow the path and hit the lever to
make a bridge. Get the cursed Deadly Sword. Don't equip it now, but back
in town, you can equip it and then have it uncursed to raise its attack power
to 100. Take the right door in the main room and cross the new bridge. Bomb
through the wall and get the very powerful Thunder Ax. Nobody in this
current party can use it, but you can use it later.
Take the far left door and continue to the stairs. Walk at the
stairs from the left until they move all the way to the bottom. Then enter
from above. Avoid the orange guys, those are the very tough Sand Gorems
(sic). Head south and push the pillar to the right. Swing across the pit to
it and put the pot on the switch. Push the pillar back left and go south.
Downstairs, head east and ride the platform to the right. Swing
across the gaps and you will get the third Capsule Monster, Flash. Flash is
(in my opinion) the best capsule, because of his healing abilities. Go back
to the platform room and ride the platform back left. Walk across the
platforms without touching the arrows to the top one. Ride it right and go
through the door. Push the four pillars onto the discolored spot and get the
Dragon Egg. In the platform room, ride the three-arrow platform one square
right to the middle. Ride the platform with a single down arrow down. Take
the platform with arrows up and right up, then take the platform to its right
down. Take the three-arrow platform up a space, then ride the platform above
to the right. Ride the three-arrow platform to the upper-left.
In the next room, put a bomb on the middle row, far right panel and
the lower-left panel. All the panels will be black. Bomb the middle panel,
then bomb each corner. Get the Life Potion and descend. Save the game and
push the pillar onto the switch on the right. Walk up and Idura will appear
and send four Zombies after you. Use Fireball cast on all Zombies and
regular hits by Maxim. It isn't too difficult. You will then fight three
Trolls. Use the same strategy, but this fight will be more difficult. Then
head back to the castle.
Before you talk to the King, de-equip all of Tia's items. She'll be
leaving the party and you won't get her back. Tia and Selan leave the party,
but then Guy and Dekar join. Buy new equipment (you'll definitely need it;
the next dungeon is one of the harder ones) and get Dekar up a couple levels.
Buy plenty of healing items, since you don't have much magic, and get a few
Shrieks as well. Put Dekar in the front of your party, then head east across
the bridge to the Ancient Tower.
Push the purple pillar up against the wall and then left to reveal a
door. Continue to a room with a pumpkin guy that shadows your movements.
Move a pillar or two aside and lead him onto the switch. Stun him with the
Hook or an arrow and push the pillars around him. In the next room, put the
pillar up and left one square from the block that makes the lower-left
corner. Stand to the right of the square and swing to the pillar.
Upstairs, kill any King Frogs you encounter immediately, because they
can confuse your characters. Go outside and back in at the next door.
Ignore the switch and bomb through the wall. Walk into the wall where the
tiles are and a door will appear. Continue to four transporters. Enter the
transporter from the right to go left.
This next room is optional. There are a lot of fights behind the
pot, but you get a Pumkin Jewel, a Protect Ring, and a Muscle Ring. It's
your choice. Outside, go up the ladder and take the right door. Head in and
push the blocks onto the white tiles. Shoot the switch with the Hook and go
to the next room. Step on the switch and go back outside. Take the left
door and kill all the enemies. Get the Cloud Key and bomb through the back
wall for a Miracle.
Back in the transporter room, enter the transpoter walking right to
go to the stairs. Head south and get the Fayza Shield. Head left and
hit the switch. Go through the door and pull the switch. Cross where the
red pillars used to be and go outside. Descend the ladder on the left and go
in the door.
Push the pillars onto the switches hidden behind them and go up to
level 6. Hit the statue on the red carpet three times and the blue one five
times, then step on the switch in the middle to turn them into heal spots.
Save and go out the door.
Head up to the Monster Races. Stand on the skeleton's warp point
(the one on the right). Shoot arrows to the left until the skeleton reaches
the warp point. If the top monster nears the warp point, move out it shoot
at it when necessary. If you win, throw the switch you're teleported to. If
not, try again. Outside, take the next door. Make sure you're healed up and
go north. Gades will appear, and this time Iris won't bail you out.
Use the Thunder Ax's Thunderball and IP powers from your Stones.
Don't bother with Maxim's spells, just wail on him with weapons. Use items
to heal, as Strong is not very useful when cast by Maxim. If he kills a
character, make sure the other ones are healthy before you try to bring the
dead guy back. Unfortunately, Gades get to go before any of your characters,
so stay healthy. His Devastation attack can do 100+ damage to a single
character.
After the battle, Maxim will be trapped on the other side of a pit
(but healed). Take the right staircase and bomb the red statue. Run from
the Deadly Armor if you get into a fight; they're hard to damage. Go back up
and take the top staircase. Shoot the blue statue with arrows and get the
Magic Bikini. Take the left staircase and step on all the panels around the
staircase. Go south and do the same. Head outside, descend, and hit the
switch. You will be returned to Parcelyte, and now have to sit through a
very long sequence where Maxim and Selan get married.

The East Continent
---------------------

After all that, Idura will take Maxim and Selan's kid and go to the
North Lighthouse (why does he TELL them where's he going?). Equip Selan with
any better stuff you have and head to the North Lighthouse (across the
bridge, to the northeast).
Push the outer blocks one square right and the inner blocks two
squares right to make an arrow and open the door on the right. Put two
crates on the top switches, then put the third one in the door to hold it
open. Then put blocks on the bottom switch and then the crest. Get the
Dragon Egg, Mystery Ring, and Big Shield, then head left. Upstairs, play the
matching game, or just cheat (the matching numbers are pairs):
1234
5467
8615
8732
Head left and hit the switch, then go south and outside. Take the
next door and head upstairs. Go outside and climb the ladder for the Fire
Ring, then go back in and swing across the gap. Head up, bomb through, and
hit the switch. Go outside, ascend, and enter. Step on the switch and put
the pots on the two crests in the second row. Get the Light Key and go left
to the teleporter back to the entrance.
In the arrow room, reverse the arrow and head left. Follow the path
to the fourth floor. Go south to fill up, then head east and up. Push the
pillar to reveal a hole. Bomb the hole and push the pillar through. Fall
down and push the pillar on the top switch. Hit the lower switch and swing
back across. Back on the fifth floor, head south and follow the path outside
to a room with a bunch of switches. Push three of the blocks onto the
switches and move the other one out of the way. Walk into the center and the
stairs will appear. Head up and fight Idura.
Use Stone IPs and the Mystery Ring's Mirror to protect against his
magic. Ignore the guys he summons and keep hitting him. Go ahead and use
magic; if Selan has the Magic Bikini, you can use Magic Cure to restore MP.
The Water Jewel's Frost is very effective.
After the fight, Idura leaves and you return to Parcelyte. Warp to
Bound Kingdom and head east past the tower to the shrine. Warp to Aleyn and
Guy and Dekar will show up and join. Put them in the front. Continue east
to Aleyn. Get new equipment and spells. The most important spells are the
expensive (but very useful) Rally and Vortex or Blizzard. You don't really
need Stronger at this point, unless you have a lot of spare cash. Head north
and loop south around the mountains to get to Phantom Mountain.
Head straight in and put a bomb in front of the door to destroy all
the plants. Head up, flick the switch, then take the door on the right in
the entrance room. Go up and outside. Enter the next cave and bomb open the
wall. Follow the path outside and get the Tree Key.
Go back to the room where you bombed the wall. To grow all the
grass, follow these instructions starting from the lower left: RRURUULDLULDD.
Step on the two remaining patches of grass to open the door. Open the chest
for Fire Arrows. Follow the path down to the base and enter the cave.
If you want, go down the stairs to get the Water Ring, but there's a
lot of fights. Upstairs, cut the vines to reveal a door and go up the
stairs. Use fire arrows to clear out the bushes in the upper right. Push
the lower-left block to the left. Push the upper-left block up a square,
then the one to your right to the right. Push the block onto the switch. Go
up onto the next platform, shoot the bushes, and push the blocks onto the
switches. Start the maze at the right of the two entrance squares and go
URURRRRR. Pick up the pot and go UULLDLLLLDLLUUUURU. Use the R button to
set the pot down to your right. Pick up the pot to your left and walk up a
square. Put it down on the switch. Go right and pick up the pot below and
put it on the other switch. Then go DDDDRRRURU to the exit.
Bomb through and ascend the ledge with the ladder. Swing down, left,
right, up, right, and up to the door. Head up and and stun the Skull Lizard
on the switch. Swing across and head outside. Cross the bridge and bomb the
cave open. Get the Mad Gorem to follow you onto the ledge and fall down.
Talk to Jyad and he will ask you to kill the monster. Save your game and
head south.
You will fight two Lions. Use Thunderball and Stone IPs. Attack one
Lion until it's dead, then attack the other. If you have Stronger, you can
cast it on all your party members at once (don't do this with Strong, it's
too weak). You don't need Stronger, but you will need Rally. Blizzard works
well.
After you beat them (it's pretty tough), head outside to the Phantom
Tree. You will return to Aleyn. Get Stronger if you didn't earlier and stay
at the inn twice. Then head to the lower-left and you'll find Jyad. You
will have to put Guy and Dekar back in the lead. You can now go to Narcysus
on Ustark or Gruberik, where you'll find the sadistically hard Ancient Cave.
The Ancient Cave is covered in a special section at the end of the
walkthrough.
Head to Narcysus, but don't get any equipment other than the Long
Sword and Plated Cloth for Maxim. Instead, head east across the bridge to
Karlloon (also spelled Caron or Karloon). You can buy great equipment and
spells here. You will need most of the equipment for the next dungeon, which
is pretty tough. Make sure you have the Rally spell, which is essential.
You will probably want to get up a few levels, too.
Head north from Narcysus to the Tower of Sacrifice. Inside, head
left and walk around the top side of the room to the door. Avoid the
chicken-like Pugs if you can, or use Vortex if you have to fight them. On
the second floor, hit the switch, cross the pit, and go south. Bomb the
wall, then hit both switches and go back through the door. Go through the
bombed wall (you can't see the door, but it's on the south wall) and walk to
the door. Head outside and go upstairs. Bomb the wall and go down to the
first floor to get the Narcysus Key. Bomb the three cracked pillars and go
upstairs. Take the new passage up for the Ice Ring.
Back on the third floor, head south and outside. Enter the next room
and unlock the door. Push the right block to the left until it's moved down.
Hit the lever, then step on the switch. Push the other block to the right,
past the switch, and up. Walk to the door and head upstairs. Go south and
get Gusto, the Air Capsule.
Number the squares on the arrow to the right like this:
1
2345
6789A
BCDE
F
Then bomb 2,B,7,4,D,A to open the door on the right. Go down and
hit the switch. Back in the arrow room, flip the solution for the right
arrow over and use it on the left arrow to open that door. Head out to the
left, go up, and enter the top door. Save your game and go north. Start
next to the far left row and walk up, then go back down the next aisle.
Weave back and forth to the far right and the door opens. Go upstairs and
face Idura.
Use your IP attacks, but save Dekar's IP so he can use the Metal
Mail's Sacred Song. Blizzard and other Ice attacks work very well. You
might also want to have Maxim use the Silvo Shield's Aura Protect IP. Again,
just ignore the guys he summons until you beat him. After the fight, Idura
leaves again. Leave the tower and head to Karlloon.
You probably have most of the stuff here already, but you can get
what you don't have. Then just head north to the North Shrine. Enter and
bomb the broken column. Push the pillar onto the switch it reveals and
follow the path until you get to a room with a switch. First, go north. Hit
the red and blue switches and swing across to get the Dekar Blade, Dekar's
most powerful weapon. Head outside the room, shoot the switch, and swing
across. Avoid the Medusas (with green hair), which are tough. Follow the
path south, hit the flame with your sword, and go up.
Head north through the corridor to a small room. Push the block up
one space, get the Lion Fang, and continue up to a teleporter. Teleport and
go up. From the entrance, head straight left, pushing the block, as far as
you can. Walk up one space and push the block left. Head up, pushing the
block. Head as far along the path up and right as you can, then push the
block there to the far right. Push the block up and right from the
teleporter down, then push the block directly above the teleporter left.
Teleport to a small room and bomb open the cracked walls. Take the right
door to a switch, then follow the left path to healing and saving. Head up
and fight Idura again.
Nothing much has really changed since your last battle, so just fight
Idura the way you did before. After the battle, go upstairs, meet Iris, and
return to the room where you entered this floor. Go south and push the
pillars onto the switches. Use the Hook to swing to the columm and fall
down. Go down the stairs and get the Fury Ring. Bomb the three cracked
columns and go upstairs. Head north and go down the stairs. Strip Dekar of
all his equipment and go up. Dekar will destroy the block on Escape, but you
have to leave without him.

Excerion
---------------------

Equip of any of Dekar's items that are worth using, then head south
from Karlloon to the small shrine. Cross and go north-east to Treadool. In
Treadool, get new stuff and then talk to the guy that asks if you want to
buy a ship. Say "yes" and he will send you to meet Lexis Shaia to the north.
Leave town and go north to the cave. Enter and read the sign to open
the door. Take the door on the right, then the one on the left. Cut the
vines to reveal a door and descend. Talk to Lexis and he will tell you to
see Jyad and have him make a ship. Warp back to Aleyn and talk to Jyad in
his house. He will agree to make a ship. Go to Treadool and talk to the
woman standing at the entrance (she wasn't there before). After some
dialogue, you will be sent to find flowers at the mountain to the south.
Leave Treadool and head south-east to the mountain. Bomb open the
door and get the Hammer, the final skill. With the Hammer, you can go back
to the cave north of Alunze and get an Eron Hat and Tuff Buckler by smashing
rocks. Back at Flower Mountain, follow the path from where you got the
Hammer to some rocks. Smash them with the Hammer and go outside. Kill Crow
Kelps by using Fireball. Enter the next door and push the pillar onto the
switch by hitting it with the Hammer.
Head north and up the stairs. Go outside and jump down at the
arrows. Walk to the left side of the ledge and jump down again. Enter the
cave and head upstairs. Cut the vines and enter the room. From the
entrance, go LLLLLLUULUUULLLDDDD to a chest with a Life Potion. Go back to
the entrance and go UULLUULLLUUR. Face north and hit the wall with the
Hammer to open a cave. Now leave the room and enter it again from the top
door. From the middle row, go LLLLLUURRRUULLLUULL to the cave with the Snake
Rock. Go back to the entrance and go LLLLLDDLLLLUULLULLUURRU to the stairs.
Go up the stairs again and smash and cut your way to the bottom, where you'll
find a pit. Fall down and get the Burn Sword. Go outside and get the Flower
Key, then jump down outside on the right.
Enter the top cave and head back to where you jumped down. This
time, smash the rock inside the cave with the Hammer and head right. Go in
the first door. Starting from the left switch, go ULLUUUUURRRRRRD. Start at
the middle switch and go ULULLUUURRRU. Go ULULULL from the right switch,
then go through the door. Head up and outside, swing across the gap, and get
Sully, the Earth Capsule. Go back to the spike room and bomb open the wall
on the right for a Dragon Egg, Flying Ax, and Power Ring.
Leave the spike maze room and take the door to the right (the locked
one). Follow the path outside and back in until you get to the boss, the
Rogue Flower. Use Fire attack on the Rogue Flower, such as the Burn Sword's
Firestorm, which damage it heavily. The Flying Ax's Deadly Smash also works
well. If it puts you to sleep, just ignore it, because you'll wake up
quickly. After the fight, head east and get the flower.
Return to Treadool and give the flower to Leefa. Lexis will
conviently just happen to finish with the engine then. Go talk to him and he
will join the party, and you'll get the Excerion.
With the Exercion, sail southwest to the very cool Forfeit Island.
Here you can buy anything you've ever sold or fed to a Capsule Monster. You
can get your Capsule Monsters up quickly by feeding them Lion Fangs, then
buying them back again and repeating the process. Don't buy any equipment in
the regular equipment shops; there's better stuff soon. There is a very nice
item shop, however.
Downstairs in the Tavern you'll find the rip-off casino. The best
way to get the stuff here is just to have enough money to convert into coins
and just buy the items. If you insist on playing the games, play Action
Bingo, which is the only game that can apparently be won (or understood).
Rotate the balls to form lines. 9 and 13 give you extra coins if you get
them in a line. Don't try to make lines going through the middle, as it's
hard to get the center ball. The only item really worth getting is the Jewel
Sonar, which isn't that expensive anyway. Don't even think about getting the
Dragon Blade, unless you're using Retry mode (more on that later).
Head east from Forfeit Island to Auralio. Buy new stuff and go north
to Dankirk. The stores in Dankirk are the same as in Auralio. Don't buy any
spells; they're all pretty useless (except for Mirror, which is way too
expensive). Talk to the the messengers, Prince Leon, and the King. Head
downstairs and the messengers will show up. Go back and talk to Leon and the
King. The Ruby Icon is missing. Warp to Clamento and have Jaffy make you a
copy of the Icon. Take it to Leon and the signing ceremony will start. The
King will recognize the fake and you will be sent to the North Dungeon to
find James.
Head north-east from Auralio to the North Dungeon. Put the pot on
the switch under the bushes and enter. Watch out for the Ramias (they look
like Medusas when you're walking around).
Go through the upper-right door and down the steps. Go south to a
switch and hit it, then return to the main room. Hit the switch and jump
down. From the ledge, swing south to the pillar. Go through the door and
down the stairs. Head west and cross the bridge. Jump down and bomb the
skeleton to make a switch appear. Hit the switch and head north. Whack the
switch, and then cut the vines to make a black segment of wall appear. Bomb
the wall until a door appears. Go through and get the Hi-Magic and Earth
Fruit. Step on the switch, then push then blocks out of the way and go up
the stairs.
Go through the upper-left door and down the stairs. Push the pillar
in front of the eye and walk underneath it. Hit the switch in the next room,
cross the bridge, and head downstairs. Shoot the three switches, then
continue east to a chest with the Fury Ribbon. Bomb the wall and enter.
Cut the vines to reveal two eyes, then shoot them with Arrows to make the
barricade go down. Cut the vines there and shoot the eye to make a switch
fall down, then hit it. Go down the steps.
Teleport to the room with the switch. Push the block onto the left
switch, then teleport to the chest room and stand where the switch was to
make a bridge segment appear. Repeat for the right switch. Get the Dankirk
Key and teleport to the switch room. Push the block onto the center crest,
cross, and hit the switch.
Return to the room where the spikes were, cross, and go down. Cut
the bush along the south wall and walk into the wall where it was to get to
the chests, with a Dragon Egg, Figgoru, and Flame Jewel. Step on the
weird-looking tile to the right of the door to open it. Loop around the room
and go down the steps. Get healed, then come back up and pick up the grate.
Jump through the hole and hit the switch. Go back up the steps and swing
across, then go down the steps there. Cross the bridge, then shoot the
switch to make a new bridge. Push the far left block out of the way and move
the one above it to the top tile. Put the left block back and move the
middle-right block out of the way, then push the bottom right block onto the
bottom tile. Move the two right blocks onto the tiles and cross the bridge
that appears. Follow the passage to a room with a bunch of Shadows.
Stun the Shadows when they're out of the way and cross the paths.
Past that room, head east to a save spot, then continue until you reach James
and the Prince of Grantze. You will have to fight four Soldiers.
The Figgoru is very useful here because of its ability to hit all of
the Soldiers. Have Selan cast Bolt on all of them, while Maxim and Guy
spread out their attacks. They're not that difficult.
You will automatically return to Dankirk. After the signing
ceremony, go to Auralio and talk to Henpy on the second floor of the
"castle." He will open the watergate. Talk to Prince Leon twice and he will
give you a VIP card so you can play Stud Poker at the casino on Forfeit
Island (which I do NOT recommend).
You can now continue south to Ferim, but there's a number of things
you can do before then. Sail to the circular island west of Barnan (check
the map that came with the game) and enter the tree. You'll find Darbi, the
Dark Capsule, there.
Visit the towns of Barnan, Durale, Portravia, Treble, and Pico.
Barnan has great stuff from much farther along in the game, but it's very
expensive. You may just want to get normal equipment, which is a whole lot
cheaper (but I recommend the Barnan stuff). Durale's shops are even better,
but they're closed to prevent you from cheating. For stuff for Lexis and
spells, go to Portravia or Ferim.
Once you're done shopping, head to Ferim. Explore the castle and
talk to Hans. Before you go to the Northeast Tower, make sure both Selan and
Lexis each have at least one level 3 attack spell (Firebird, Ice Valk,
Dragon, and Thunder). You might also want Champion, but it's not really
necessary. Head northeast from Ferim to the Northeast Tower.
Head in and bomb the wall. Upstairs, head south and use the Hammer
to move the pillar, then swing across. Go outside and take the left door.
Set both arrows to the right and hit the switch. Go back out and take the
right door. Follow the path left for the Stun Gun, then go through the door
and up the stairs. Take the ladder down and go in the door. Starting at the
bottom entrance, go ULUURULURRRDDLDDRRUUUU. Head downstairs and get the
Trial Key.
Return to the room with the moving bridge and send it back left.
Pass through the left room and go up the stairs. Set the platform to go down
and ride it. Set the next one to go up to get the Samu Jewel. Ride the
platform back up to the entrance. Set the platform to go right and ride it.
Set the top arrow and the bottom one right to ride to the Mysto Jewel. Ride
the platform back to the entrance, then ride it down. Set the arrow down to
go to the door.
Go outside and ascend to the top. Unlock the door and enter. Set
the levers to trap the Samurais on opposite sides of the cage (this can take
a while), then wait by the door for them to step on the switches. Go through
and talk to Hans. Amon will show up. After he leaves (no fight), go through
the door and Hans will get the gem. Return to Ferim and go to the throne
room. You will be sent to Agurio.
Head north from the Northeast Tower to the shrine. Pass through to
Agurio, which is destroyed. Talk to Iris and she will send you to find Dual
Blade. Now warp to Treble (or sail there, if you haven't been there yet).
Talk to everyone, then go to Portravia.

Artea
---------------------

Go to Kirmo Lab in Portravia and talk to Dr. Kirmo. Agree to remodel
Excerion into a submarine. An elf girl will steal the plans and run off.
Walk east from Portravia and curve down around the mountains. You may
encounter Green Cores here, which are tougher versions of Red Cores. They
give you great experience if you can beat them before they run. Use magic.
Enter the Mountain of No Return and go in the first cave. Push the
horse statue on the right up a space, then walk around them. Push the pillar
between the two statues, then push the statue on the right up two spaces and
all the way left. Push the bottom-most statue down two squares, then move
the pillar up against the left statue in the middle row. Move the bottom
statue up against hte right statue in the top row. Go through the door.
Go up the stairs, head outside, and then back in the next door. Go
up, take the stairs, and go outside. Cross the bridge, enter the next cave,
and go down. Walk above the first column and head down. Push the
left-facing statue down a square. Push the up-facing statue right until
you're above another left statue. Push it down until it's even with a right
statue. Push them both down one square and get the chest for the Aqua Sword.
Push the original left staute (the one in the upper-left) up two squares.
Head down to the lower-left and push the right statue up as far as you can.
Push the far right statue down so it faces the lower-right column. Push the
down statue down so it touches the up statue, then walk above them to the
exit. If Lexis has any good Rings or Stones, remove them, then head outside.
You will fight four Gargoyles. Use Ice spells (Ice Valk in
particular -- do they mean Ice Walk?) cast on all the Gargoyles while Maxim
and Guy hit one at a time. If you're having a hard time, cast the spells on
just a single target until you kill one Gargoyle. If you have either the
Mist Rapier or Aqua Sword, use their IP powers, both of which do big damage
to the Gargoyles. If you have Champion, cast it on your whole party for easy
healing.
Lexis will then leave your party to plant flowers (or mostly just to
make room for Artea). Artea will warp you to Eserikto, where you will find
that Amon has gone to the Divine Shrine. Artea (I REFUSE to call him Arty)
will then join the party. Buy him the Fry spell if you can afford it, it's
very useful. Then use any leftover money to get him some stuff at Barnan.
Head southwest from Eserikto to the Divine Shrine. Use Fry on any
dark enemies (undead, demonic, etc.) Go down the steps to a hookshot maze.
From the ledge where you start, swing to the right of the two columns above
you (the ones you can swing to without falling down). Swing right and up.
Swing to the left of the two columns, then swing left to a ledge with stairs.
Go up the stairs for the Heart Key, then jump down and go back to the
starting point.
Get back to the point where you are below the small three-column
ledge. Swing to the far right column on the ledge you, then over to the
moveable column. Push the column up as far as it will go, then swing back to
the small ledge with three columns. Go back to the stair ledge, then shoot
the lever with an arrow and swing to the ledge it raises. Swing to the
pillar, then to the column up and to the right, near some spikes. Go up the
stairs and pick up the lower-right pot of the upper group to make the spikes
go down. Go down the steps and get the Rocket Ring, then jump down.
Go back to the second set of steps and ascend, but this time, don't
pick up the pot. Instead, fall through the hole under the lower-right pot in
the bottom group. Swing left twice, then walk to the bottom of the long
ledge and swing left again. Swing down, right, right, and up to the stairs.
Follow the circular path to a moving platform. Shoot the little face switch
with an arrow to get it started. Go up and then head right past the torches.
The wall will open. Go up the stairs.
Break through the wall and play the musical notes in scale from
bottom to top (middle, left, right, far left, far right). Get the final
Dragon Egg. Now that you have all the Dragon Eggs, you can take them to the
Egg Dragon for a wish (see the Dragon Egg section of the walkthrough).
Continue south from the note room and open the door with the Heart Key. Push
the pillars onto the switches via the Hammer and go up. Amon will appear,
but Karyn will banish him before dying. Head up and stand on the blue square
to increase your stats.
Return to the hook maze in the basement. From the starting platform,
swing to the column down and to the left, then go up and left. Swing to the
pillar and push it up all the way. Swing left, then down. Walk around to
the top of the room and move the pillar to the right. Walk down the long
ledge and swing to the column at the end. Swing to the pillar, then up to
the stairs. Get the Revive Armor and equip it (even if it's weaker; it has
the very useful Revival Sleep IP, which heals everybody completely).
Return to Eserikto and talk to Milka, then go to Portravia. Go talk
to Lexis and get the remodeled Excerion. Lexis tells you to go to Barnan,
but there's a few other things to do first. First of all, you can take the
Excerion to the lower-left island and dive under the rocks, then surface
again on the other side to get to Chaed. In Chaed, you can buy great
equipment even better than the Barnan stuff, but it's very expensive (and I
mean VERY expensive).
Take Excerion underwater (there are no fights underwater) south of
Seim Island, where Parcelyte is. Enter the hole you see underwater. It's
the [insert unintelligible gibberish here] Cave. Explore all the branches
of it for two Secret Fruits, and Zeppy, the final Capsule Monster. (Contrary
to what you say, the Water capsule is the *last* one you get). Also, if you
have all eight Dragon Eggs (you should), you can take them to the Egg Dragon.
See the Dragon Eggs section.

Amon
---------------------

Warp to Barnan and dive underwater. Enter the submarine cave off the
southwest coast of the island. Enter the whirlpool to go up into the Shrine
of Vengeance. Get off Excerion and go up. Set the left switch to red and
the right one to green, then hit the switch. Turn both switches green and go
through the door. Ignore the steps -- monsters -- and push the pillar with
the Hammer, then swing over to it. Go down the steps. Most of the monsters
in this level are undead or other dark, so use Firebird and especially Fry.
Underground, head north. The monster moves right if you go up, down if you
go right, left if you go down, and up if you go left. Guide it onto the
switch and put the pot down to trap it. Go down the steps and walk through
the wall to hit the switch, then go north. Shoot the ropes holding the
bridge with arrows to lower it. Swing across and get the Power Robe, then
go south and push both pillars in the water. Teleport back to the stairs and
return to the entrance room. If you're low (likely; the Fiends are tough),
then first return to town to get healed. Before you continue, make sure you
have the Valor spell; it's essential.
In the entrance room, set the left switch green and the right one
red, then hit the lever to move the wall left. Reverse the switches and go
through the door. Go down the first set of steps and set the switch to red.
Push the red blocks into the corner tiles, then set the switch to blue and
put the blue blocks on the other tiles. Get the Ghost Key.
Upstairs, continue west to stairs going up. Take those, and continue
southeast to some bombable walls. Bomb the far right one for Heal Armor,
then bomb the far left one and go through. Head past the locked door, go
down the stairs, and ride the platform across. Go up and bomb both the
fallen column and the skeleton. Jump down the pit and bomb both columns
supporting the ledge with the stairs to drop it. Go up to the third floor
and head west. Break through the cracked pillar and ascend to the top to get
the Evil Jewel. Go down a floor and break through the wall for the Bright
Armor.
Return to the third floor and use the Hammer to hit the cracked
pillar across the gap. A ledge will fall down. Cross the gap and enter the
next door. Push the block across every square of the red carpet to remove
the wrinkles. Head up, save the game, and then fight the Venge Ghost.
If you have the Old Shield, use its Ancient Power IP to increase your
defense. The Lion Fang's Bite does big damage, but otherwise save your IP
for healing. The Venge Ghost has an instant death spell, so use Valor to
bring that character back if it happens. Artea should cast Fry every round
unless you absolutely need him to heal. Later in the battle, it may stop
attacking and use its "Hatred / checking situation" thing. This is a good
chance to heal.
After you beat it, get the Cursed Bow and return to Barnan. Talk to
Iris and she will send you to the Tower of Truth in Durale. Equip the Cursed
Bow, then go to a church and have the curse removed. The Cursed Bow will
become Artea's Bow, which can hit all the enemies at once.
Head to Durale. The shops are now open, but the stuff you can get in
Chaed is better. The best magic shop in the game is here, however; get Zap
for Artea, and Destroy for Selan if you have lots of money. Buy plenty of
Shrieks and equip Artea with Artea's Bow, then head west to the Tower of
Truth.
The Seireins (I think that's supposed to be "Siren") in here are
tough because their Do-re-mi attack can confuse the whole party. If Artea
has his bow, he will always attack the enemies even if he's confused because
of the way it's programmed. The Seireins are worth fighting, however, since
they might drop a Song Rock, which allows you to use Do-re-mi.
Head south through the door on the right. Step on the switch on the
right, then play the notes in this order: 3214. Go up, hit the switch, then
play the notes 3421 and return to the entrance room. Bomb through the wall
and swing across to the stairs.
Go south and kill the Seirein. Four Sea Hidoras will appear. Kill

them and keep going south to the next room. Shoot the switch to turn it
blue, then walk down until you're level with it. Shoot it again, then walk
past where the second column used to be. Shoot the switch again and walk to
the door. Outside, take the third floor door. Cross the pit and fall
through the cracked floor to the second floor. Bomb through the wall, get
the Super Sword, and bomb again. Cross the pit and you'll be back at the
second floor entrance.
Go back outside and take the fourth floor door. Step on the right
switch and go through the door. Play the first four notes (3241), then shoot
the Hook at the middle bar to swing over the last note. Put the crate on the
left switch and the pot on the right switch. Go upstairs and head to the
lower right for a Ghost Ring, Song Rock, and Ghostclothes. Head to the
upper-right and go up the stairs. Go east and through the door.
Put the pot and crate on the switches and cross the bridge. Put the
block on the bottom switch and cross back. Put the pot on the switch across
the bridge to the south. Head across two bridges and then put the crate on
the switch there. Cross to the left and put the block on the top switch.
Move the crate down to the lower-left switch. Put a bomb next to it, then
cross the bridge. When the bomb blows up, cross the bridge that appears. Go
south, get the Truth Key, and go back outside.
Go the top floor, unlock the door with the Truth Key, and go up the
stairs. Go north to save, then go outside to the south and in the next door.
Talk to Iris. Three White Dragons will show up and attack.
If you got any Hidora Rocks from the Sea Hidoras, use the Triple
Attack IP, one of the strongest IPs. If Artea has his bow, have him attack
instead of using magic. If you a Hidora Rock, you won't have too much
trouble. After the fight, Iris is revealed to be the Sinistral Erim.

Dual Blade
---------------------

Warp to Chaed and head to Dragon Mountain to the south. This is
probably the hardest dungeon in the game; and one of the last true dungeons.
They should have saved this one for the end.
Enter the second cave and go north. Put a bomb to the right of the
lower-left bush. Take two steps right and swing your sword three times. Put
a bomb down, walk one space left, put another bomb down, walk left another
space, and put a third bomb down. Walk up two spaces and shoot a Fire Arrow
to the right. Walk up another space and shoot a Fire Arrow right to clear
all the bushes. Go through the door, get the Sonic Ring, swing to the other
side, and go up.
Go upstairs again and swing across the gap. Lure the monster onto
the cracked floor to raise the elevator. Head south and go outside. Swing
across the gap, enter the cave, and keep going down until you reach a room
with a cracked floor. Skip it and go outside to get the Magma Key, then go
back in and drop down to the entrance. Head back to Chaed to get healed,
then take the top cave at the start.
Unlock the door and go through. Push the pillar on the right up a
square with the Hammer, then swing to it. Push the pillar up another square,
then push the pillar to the left and swing to it. Swing to the pillar above
you, then to the pole. Get the Miracle, Magic Scale, and S-pro Ring. Swing
at the pillar below to fall in the lava and restart the puzzle. Push the
right pillar up and swing to it. Push the pillar above you up, then swing to
it. Push the pillar on the right below you down, then swing to it, then the
post. Go up the stairs and head south to what is probably the second-hardest
puzzle in the game.
The object is to shoot the grass before it grows completely. Number
the bushes like this:
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
Walk between 5 and 6 and shoot two arrows left to burn 4 and 5. Go
between 3 and 6 and shoot 3. Go left between 1 and 4 and shoot 7, then use
R to turn up and shoot 1. Go between 4 and 5 and shoot 6. Go between 7 and
8 and shoot 9. Go between 5 and 8 and shoot 8. Go between 6 and 9 and shoot
3. Go between 5 and 6 and shoot 4. Go between 5 and 8 and shoot 2, then use
R to turn and shoot 8. Go between 6 and 9 and shoot 6. The plants will
disappear.
Go outside, ascend, and enter the cave. Go down the stairs, save,
and go down again. Take the stairs on the right and go down to a screen with
lava. Cross the bridge to the left to get the Hipower Ring and S-witch Ring.
Then go down the steps and use the ice blocks to cross to the large ledge.
Throw the first ice block in at the upper-left corner of the ledge, facing
left. Throw the second one facing up at the upper-left corner of the dried
lava. Throw both ice blocks at the upper-left corner of the lower ledge.
Head up to the ledge, but DON'T go across the bridge to the right. Instead,
go up and bomb the wall open for the Gorgon Rock. Go back to the room with
two down stairs and take the stairs on the left (only if you're healthy).
Grab the three chests for the S-mind Ring, Angry Ring, and Kraken Rock.
Go back up to the room with the save spot and go up again. There is
a wall with a brown stripe near the bottom. Set a bomb in front of it. Take
three steps away and swing your sword. Walk back to the wall, setting bombs
at each step. Set a bomb in front of the wall. When the bombs blow up, bash
the wall with the Hammer. Jump down the pit and keep going the steps until
you reach the World's Most Difficult Trick.
The World's Most Difficult Trick is, well, difficult. Number the
spaces like this:
1234
5678
9ABC
DEFG
HIJK
D-E means to move the block in space D to space E. D-F means to
move the block in space D to space F (through space E). If a block takes up
several spaces, all the spaces are listed in parentheses. For example,
(9D)-(DH) means to move the block covering spaces 9 and D to spaces D and H.
(2367)-(67AB) would mean to move the block covering spaces 2, 3, 6, and 7
(the chest block) down one space to spaces 6, 7, A, and B. Moves are
seperated by commas. Here's the solution:

K-I, (CG-GK), (AB-BC), E-A, I-E, H-I, (9D-DH), A-9, (BC)-(AB), (GK)-(CG),
F-K, E-F, I-J, (DH)-(EI), 9-H, (15)-(9D), (2367)-(1256), (48)-(37),
(CG-48), K-C, F-G, J-K, (EI)-(FJ), H-I, (9D)-(DH), (AB)-(9A), (FJ)-(BF), I-E,
K-I, (BF)-(FJ), G-K, C-G, (9A)-(BC), E-9, I-A, (DH)-(EI), 9-H, A-D,
(BC)-(9A), G-B, (48)-(CG), (37)-(48), B-3, (FJ)-(7B), K-F, (CG)-(GK),
(48)-(8C), 3-4, (7B)-(37), F-B, (GK)-(FJ), (8C)-(GK), 4-C, (37)-(48), B-3,
C-7, (48)-(8C), 3-4, 7-3, (FJ-7B), (EI-FJ), D-I, (9A)-(DE), (1256)-(569A),
3-1, 4-2, (7B)-(37), (8C)-(48), (GK)-(CG), (FJ)-(BF), I-K, H-J, (DE)-(HI),
(569A)-(9ADE), 2-5, (37)-(26), (BF)-(37), (9ADE)-(ABEF), 5-D, 1-9, (26)-(15),
(37-26), (48)-(37), (CG)-(48), (ABEF)-(BCFG), D-A, (HI)-(DE), J-H, K-I,
(BCFG)-(FGJK), A-C, 9-B, (DE)-(9A), I-D, (FGJK)-(EFIJ)

The chests contain the Mega Shield, Holy Robe, Legend Helm, and
Lizard Blow. After solving the puzzle, continue down the steps. Go north
and get the Miracle, S-power Ring, and S-myst Ring (who's leaving all these
rings around here?) Cut the bushes and jump down onto the switch. Cross the
bridge and get the Hidora Rock. Its Triple Attack IP is one of the best.
Jump down to the ground floor and swing across. Cross the cracked bridge and
it will collapse.
Go down the stairs and swing to the post. The column will collapse.
Swing across to the right. Head around the right side of the ledges and
circle around the room. Break through the door and get the Miracle, but
DON'T step on the transporter, which takes you back to the start. If Artea
is using his bow, switch him to a one-enemy weapon. Go back to the circular
area and talk to the Elder at the top. The Fire Dragon will appear and
attack.
The Lizard Blow from the World's Most Difficult Trick does a lot of
damage, especially its IP. The Hidora Rock's Triple Attack is also very
useful. Selan and Artea should use Ice Valk. Use the Mega Shield's IP or
any others that protect you from physical attacks, because the Fire Dragon is
a hard hitter.
After the battle, take the transporter back to the entrance and
return to Chaed. Talk to the Elder and he will give you the Mermaid Jade.
Take the sub to the island where you found Darbi (northeast of Chaed) and
enter the cave. Open the gate with the Jade and pass through to the
whirlpool to Preamarl.
Buy any new stuff that's an improvement, then talk to Queen Marla.
She will tell you that Dual Blade is in the shrine to the north. Leave town
and take the sub up to the triangle of islands. Enter the cave in the middle
and go through the gate. Talk to Marla and Piara and the Ghost Ship will
appear.
The Ghost Ship is a very easy boss. It can't hurt you, it can only
summon enemies. Just kill of the enemies when they appear (Artea's Bow works
very well for this) and keep hitting it. If you want to speed up the battle,
use Firebird, but it's not necessary. After the fight, enter any of the
whirlpools and continue north to the Submarine Shrine.
I don't know whether it's a glitch or it's supposed to be that way,
but the Submarine Shrine looks REALLY screwed up. There are weird floating
pieces of wall and the entire place is black. You will see chests, but you
can't get them (I used the Jewel Sonar and it said there were no chests).
Just go basically north. You will have to move side to side a little. You
are trying to get to Dual Blade, the four gray boxes in the center. When you
get there, Daos will appear, take the sword, raise Doom Island, and destroy
Chaed.
Go to Portravia and talk to Lexis. He will send you to Gratze to get
an engine for Excerion so he can remodel it into an airship. Take the sub
around to the north side of Ustark and enter the cave near Gratze. Go into
the whirlpool and you will be in the Dankirk North Cave. Land the Excerion
and go through the door. Keep going up to Gratze (or, as the game calls it,
'3y Kingdom). Leave the tower and the guards will capture you. You will be
in prison with Berty and Bart, the thieves from Alunze. Berty and Bart will
open the door.
This is the last true dungeon of the game. Save and heal in the cell
to the west. Go south and you will fight four Soldiers. Just hit them and
have Artea use his bow. After you beat them, go back and heal if you need
it, then go up. Head east, cut the vines, and break through the door. Push
the one pillar that's moveable and go down the steps. Shoot the switch and
get the Basement Key.
Go back to the room where you broke through the wall and go north.
In the next room, carry the pot over the switch. Go up and push the pillar
over the switch. Swing to the column and hit the switch. Go back south and
shoot the eye with a fire arrow to open the door. Cross the bridge and go
up the stairs.
Take the lower-right door, follow the path, and throw the switch. Go
back, take the lower-left door, and swing across the gap. Get the Miracle
and return to the room with three doors. Take the upper-right door and go
up the stairs. Unlock the door and go south.
Stand on the first switch to go left. Stand on the middle switch and
ride the platform to the top. Go right and down. Ride left and then circle
back around to the upper-right platform. Ride it down and walk to the exit.
Go up to the castle.
You will fight four Soldiers. They aren't that hard, so save your IP
for the next boss. Just use Artea's Bow and hitting. You will then fight
the Tank. Magic attacks are useless against the Tank, but the Hidora Rock's
Triple Attack works great. Otherwise, just hit. Have Selan heal, since
she's the weakest hitter. When it uses its Machine Gun Attack, cast Champion
to the whole party.
After the fight, you will get the Engine and return to Portravia.
Talk to Lexis and he will remodel Excerion into an airship. Now you can fly
by hitting A while on the ship and choosing the up arrow.

Doom Island
---------------------

Fly to Narvick on Shuman Island. Buy new equipment (the best in the
game) and talk to the Elder. He will tell you to go to the three towers,
and send you to the Shuman tower first.
Enter the tower on Shuman Island. These are rather lame dungeons.
Go right, up the ladder, and then south. Go up the next ladder and enter the
door. Go up the stairs and outside. Go in the next door and get the S-ice
Ring.
Go back down the steps and go west from the door. Take the left of
the next two doors and go up the stairs. Go in the left door for the S-water
Ring, then take the right door for the stairs. Go up the next stairs and in
the next door. Kill the Leech (Zap works well) and go up the stairs that
appear. Go in the next door and up the stairs.
Take the door in the upper-left and go down the stairs. Outside,
follow the path all the way right, past the first door, and in the second
one. Follow the passage to the next door and get the S-thun Ring. Go back
to the door you passed up and enter. Kill the Black Dragon with Zap to make
stairs appear. Go up, head north, and enter the next door. Save your game,
heal up, and go up to fight Gades.
As always, Triple Attack is useful. Artea should cast Zap every
turn; it does lots of damage to all of the Sinistrals. Selan should heal by
casting Stronger on individual members or Champion to the whole party. If
you have the Courage spell, you might want to cast it on the party once.
After the fight, you'll get the Divine [Pearl] Armor. It's weaker than the
Zircon Armor, but equip it anyway because of its Phoenix IP.
Go back to Narvick and see the Elder. He will send you to Strahda
Island. Heal and save, then take the airship to the northeast island and
enter the tower.
Go right and in the door. Take the stairs up and then head up the
ladder on the right. Follow the path around the next door. Go up the
stairs, head left and go up the stairs there. Enter the next room, go up the
stairs, and kill the Leech. Take the stairs that appear and then the next
set of stairs.
Go right and up the stairs. Go left (past the door), and up the
stairs. Keep going up until you reach a door. Enter, go up the stairs, and
kill the Black Dragon. Go up the stairs and continue to the next room.
Heal up and save. Equip Artea with his bow and go up to fight Amon.
Amon is a tough boss. Use Triple Attack, but save Maxim's IP for
Phoenix. Artea should cast Zap, and Selan should heal. If nobody needs
healing, have Selan use Courage on the party or Trick on Maxim or Guy. Amon
will confuse your characters, and that's what makes him tough. If a
character is confused, cast Coma on them to put them to sleep, so they won't
hit your characters. It's weird, but it works. Don't bother putting Artea
to sleep, because he can only attack Amon with his bow.
Return to Narvick and talk to the Elder again. Buy any equipment
left to get. If there's anything left you need to do, do it now. Once you
beat the last tower, you can't go back. Take the airship to Kamirno Island
in the northwest.
Go in the door on the right and up the stairs. Go up the ladder and
in the nearby door for the S-fire Ring. Outside, head west and go in the
door. Go up the stairs and take the ladder to the right. Enter the door
and go up the stairs. Head back left and follow the path until you come to
a room with a stationary Gorgon. Kill it and go up the stairs that appear.
Go right and into the next door. Go down the steps and head left.
Go up two sets of stairs, then go up the ladder and continue north. Go in
the door and kill the Leech. Keep going up the steps until you reach the
save point. Heal and save. Once you go up the stairs, you're stuck going to
the final "dungeon", so make sure you're ready.
Go up and get the Pearl Armor. Daos will appear and you will get
Dual Blade. You will then return to Portravia. After the dialogue, you can
go to the church and save your game, but I don't recommend it. You can't
leave town, and it isn't that much work to go from the save point on Kamirno
to here. Go back into the lab and talk to Lexis. You will automatically go
to Doom Island.
I hesitate to call the Shrine of Daos a dungeon, since there are no
monsters and no puzzles, just the Sinistrals. Go in either side door, get
the Miracle, and go down the steps. Take the middle door for three Miracles,
then take the other door and go back up. Get the Miracle and take the center
passage. You will fight Gades. Gades is basically the same as he was on
Shuman Island, so just use the same strategy. Your IP is restored after each
fight in here, so go ahead and use your IP attacks, especially Triple Attack
and the ones provided by the Pearl equipment and the Dual Blade. Flash is
the best Capsule Monster to use against the Sinistrals, because he/she/it?
can heal.
After the fight, go up the stairs. Take the door on the right for a
Miracle, then take the top door and head right through the passage. Take the
side door on the left for a Miracle, then go up to the third floor. Head
around the platform to the top for two Miracles (why does Daos just leave all
these Miracles sitting around?), then ascend to the first level of the altar.
Circle around to the back and go down the steps for HP and MP restorers. Go
back up and head to the top of the altar to fight Amon.
Beat Amon the way you did before, then go back to the heal spot.
Continue up the stairs and circle around the outside for three Miracles.
Cross the bridge and fight Erim. Erim is a little harder than Gades and
Amon, but not much. Just fight her the same way as before. She has instant
death attacks, but just use Valor or the Phoenix IP to bring the character
back.
After the fight, return to the healing spot and then teleport up to
fight Daos. Daos is so easy, I thought there was another boss after him (the
mysterious Arek, who never shows up anywhere except in the intro). Fight him
as you did the other Sinistrals. Go ahead and use your items, you don't need
them anywhere else. If he confuses your characters, you might want to put
them to sleep or use a Shriek, if you have any.
After you beat Daos, the bridge collapses. (Why doesn't Maxim use an
Escape *item* to leave?) The identity-challenged Iris/Erim/Lufia will appear
and tell you to destroy the three Mystic Stones. Just walk through the maze
and destroy the Stones, then watch the ending.
When "The End" appears, leave the game on. A small part of Lufia 1
will come on. There's still more. After a while, a screen showing how many
times each character was killed, how many chests you opened, how many fights
you won, etc. will appear.
After you beat the game, you'll notice a new option called "Retry" on
the file select screen. If you choose that, you'll start a new game, but
you'll get 4 times the experience and gold. Unfortunately, the bonus doesn't
carry into the Ancient Cave. Beat the game on Retry and Gift mode will
appear. Gift mode lets you just play the Ancient Cave. The best part about
Gift is that you can select your party! Just go to the tavern and you can
change characters. There are more hints on the Ancient Cave at the end of
this file.
