A somewhat new game from Square that had absolutely no hype at all. Square did nothing
to promote it. But I think it's the best Square game since Chrono Trigger and Final
Fantasy 6. It has a new battle system, you select weak attack, medium or strong and
you can form combos with them. On a side note, it uses mostly anime instead of CG
FMV.

Xenogears Walkthrough | - by David Johnson | A basic walkthrough of Xenogears, although the characters' names are in Japanese. |
Deathblow List | - by LightRanma | All the deathblows for all the characters in Xenogears, a must have. |
Boss List | - by LightRanma | A boss list for Xenogears. Great strategies on how to defeat the bosses. |
Xenogears starts off with a very cool anime sequence that will make no sense to you whatsoever. But it plays a very important part later. Then you see a person fighting in a huge gear and another person saying that he shouldn't fight here. Cut to flashback. You are in control of a young man named Fei who turns out to be very unstable. He is the main character in Xenogears. Xenogears offers one of the best (and most confusing) plots I have ever seen. This will be one of your favorite games.
Some of the main characters in the game.

Xenogears | |
Graphics: 9.5 | Graphics: The sprites are a little ugly looking but in battle with the gears are great. Also, the anime is superb, although the dubbing is horrible. |
Music/Sound: 10 | Music/Sound: Xenogears offers some of the best music ever, composed by the same guy who did Chrono Trigger. Expect to hear a lot of similarities between the two games. |
Play Control: 9 | Play Control: The towns are huge so it takes a while to explore but Xenogears has a nice rotating camera to help make it easier. You can also see where things are in the background a lot easier than in Final Fantasy 7. |
Originality: 9 | Originality: This game has a great plot. Although it is very close the Evangelion's plot. But overall, this game has a lot of new things in it. |
Challenge: 8 | Challenge: Sadly, this game isn't very challenging. There are a few hard bosses but that's it. The game usually keeps you at the right level. |
Replay Value: 7 | Replay Value: The game is over 40 hours long, you aren't going to want to replay it all the way though, even if it is a good idea. You won't get all of the plot the first time through. |
TOTAL RATING: 9 |
This is one of the most confusing and disturbing scenes in the game.
